About Hollands Wild
Hollands Wild stands for delicious, healthy, and easy-to-prepare products made from Dutch game caught to maintain natural balance. The meat from these animals is often wasted, which is a shame.
Because we only use meat made available through wildlife management, our selection varies with the season’s harvest: not everything is always available.
Origin
The Netherlands is a wonderful country for game such as geese and fallow deer. We see them more and more often, because there are (almost) no natural enemies.
When local populations become too large, they disrupt the balance of nature. They reduce the habitat of other animals and disrupt local vegetation. In addition, in some regions, game species pose a threat to public safety, agriculture, and forestry due to their growing numbers.
To restore and maintain the balance of nature, interventions are implemented through strictly regulated wildlife management plans. Unfortunately, the “harvest” of this is often wasted.
Did you know that only 5% of the game eaten in the Netherlands actually comes from our own country? The rest is imported from abroad. It is farmed or wild-caught there. We eat game from far away and throw away large parts of our own harvest. This needs to change; Hollands Wild only works with what is available from our own nature.
Quality of our products
Our product range includes meat from deer, wild boar, and duck, but we also sell various goose products. Goose has become abundant in the Netherlands in recent years. Our product range currently consists of only a few well-known wild animal species, but we may expand in the future to include more exotic animals native to the Netherlands, such as the American crayfish.
In this way, we strive to find a new home for as many species as possible whose meat is currently wasted.
Naturally, we strive to do this in a safe and healthy way. Our sustainable meat is processed in accordance with regulations and certifications, so you can be assured that it is of good quality and safe.
Most game is shot. For this purpose, we have purchased a machine that can detect pellets, allowing us to remove them. Despite our careful inspections, we cannot completely rule out the possibility of a bone fragment or pellet slipping through.
Taste Your Nature
You can taste the delicious freedom game has enjoyed in our Dutch countryside. It has a rich flavor and is packed with healthy fats, proteins, B vitamins, and zinc.
Game is lean meat, so you don’t need to cook it for long. Game is at its best when it’s still slightly pink in the center. Overcooking game makes it dry and loses much of its flavor.
